Jaswir Dhillon, M.A., Registered Psychotherapist

You will find me to be warm, non-judgemental, direct, and attentive during our time together. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe to share their thoughts and feelings and I am passionate about supporting my clients in deepening their self-understanding, develop greater resilience, heal from long-term patterns that no longer serve them, and begin to experience growth towards a happy and fulfilling life.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist who specializes in integrative mental health treatment. With diverse and broad training in Psychodynamic, Existential, Gestalt, Somatic Therapy, Parts Work, Mindfulness, Emotion-Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I adapt my therapeutic approach to each client’s unique needs.

In addition to my work as a therapist, I am also a yoga and meditation teacher. Therefore, I am passionate and uniquely qualified to work holistically with clients as I deeply appreciate the connection between the mind, body and spirit, and its integral role in the process of healing and transformation.

My path to the practice of psychotherapy was not a straightforward one. I left a career in engineering to pursue my passion in helping clients develop psychological and emotional well-being. My experience as an engineer provides me with a deep understanding of the challenges that professionals experience in all areas of their lives. I am also solution- and results-oriented and structure each session according to treatment plans designed to optimize positive change in the lives of my clients.

As a new immigrant and woman of South Asian descent, I understand the challenges that people of colour and new immigrants face in Canada and deeply feel the pain and trauma that displaced and marginalized individuals have felt throughout generations. I strive to be a safe and authentic space for clients who have experienced discrimination, marginalization, and who have faced barriers to access and opportunity to speak about their experiences, work through their feelings, to heal, and to fully accept and embrace themselves.

I have a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering from McGill University and a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am an autonomously practicing Registered Psychotherapist of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
